Thanksgiving is many people’s favorite holiday because you get to put as much food on your plate as possible and still feel guilt free. Sometimes, though, you feel like you're playing a game of "20 Questions" with the members of your family. The holiday is over so congratulations, you've survived your first round of holiday questions.
1. Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
This is listed first because I’m sure we can all agree this is the most frequently asked question and definitely the most aggravating. Either we answer in our head the question with "yes, creepy relative who stalks me on Facebook, I am dating someone," or "no, please stop asking so I can shove my face with mashed potatoes and not have to worry about being in a relationship."
2. How are you doing in your classes?
This question might often seem dreadful especially when it's almost second semester and you have three papers, finals to study for and a million other things due as soon as you come back from Thanksgiving break.
3. Looks like you're having fun from your pictures on Facebook, are you partying a lot?
First, I would just like to answer this question with, "thank you for stalking me on Facebook, creepy Uncle Frank." And to answer your question, yes college is fun, yes college students go to parties, yes college students attend social gatherings, yes I am posting pictures on Facebook; therefore, I am having fun. After all, college is supposed to be the time of your life, the last four years you have without having to officially act like an adult.
4. How are you?
I don’t know, I think I might be sleep-deprived and craving real food, drowning in homework 24-7, and so far, I have also gained at least 10 pounds, but I’m just going to smile and say “great.”
5. What are you studying?
I’ve only told you at every holiday, family gathering, birthday party, 50th-anniversary party you name it. But I guess I’ll remind you again.
6. Have you gained any weight?
Yes…you should be surprised I didn't make an appearance in sweats.
7. Staying out of trouble?
Always..
8. What kind of classes are you taking?
Everything? Sensitive topic, let's not talk about it.
9. How is the food at school?
Really good! Tastes like prison food!!
10. How's your roommate? Do you get along?
Although I haven't had to fill out a roommate request and got lucky with a normal roommate, other roommate drama in my building is REAL, but also kind of interesting.
11. Do you get homesick?
Living on your own is great and exciting, but sometimes all I need is a queen-sized bed, a home-cooked meal, my friends, animals to cuddle with and someone to tell me I need to do my homework. Never thought I would say this, but sometimes I actually miss my parents yelling at me and my siblings being in my business. Not to mention the separation anxiety from my friends at different schools is REAL.
