As one of the most watched televised broadcasts in the country, the Super Bowl is a perfect demonstration of just how obsessed Americans are with football. For most, Super Bowl Sunday is spent actually watching the game, rooting for a certain team regardless of whether they actually like them or not. As for the rest of us, Super Bowl Sunday is a completely different event.
1. What color uniform are we rooting for?
As someone who doesn't understand football regardless of how many times it has been explained to me, I've never been able to watch a game long enough to care for any team for myself. Because of this, the only way I know what teams everyone is talking about is knowing the color of their uniforms. I know, pathetic.
2. Has the halftime show started yet?
As I am writing this article, I couldn't not tell you what two teams are playing in the Super Bowl even if my life depended on it. One thing I can tell you, and knew since the day it was announced, is that Coldplay is performing the halftime show this year with rumored appearances of Rihanna and Beyonce and that is truly the only thing that matters. In my head the Super Bowl is actually a televised performance with a prelude and conclusion of some football.
3. Why are these commercial breaks so short?
Super Bowl Sunday is the only time anyone ever looks forward to watching commercials. For those of us who don't care about football, watching the actual football game gives us the same feeling watching commercials normally does. Let's be honest, aside from the halftime show, the commercials are the true star of the whole thing.
4. Why are you yelling at the television?
The most confusing people at a Super Bowl party are those that have the idea that their screaming at the TV will actually get the coach's attention. This isn't Wheel of Fortune and neither Rihanna nor Beyonce have made their appearance yet so there is no reason for you to be yelling, relax!
5. Why hasn't my pizza arrived yet?
Everyone knows that ordering pizza on Super Bowl Sunday and actually getting the pizza on Super Bowl Sunday is near impossible, which makes for a real bummer. Out of all of the days you want pizza, it has to be the busiest delivery day of the year and you totally forgot the occasion. Thanks sports, thanks a lot!
