Happy is looked at as a prize, a hidden treasure, a lottery emotion that only the lucky few get to experience on a daily basis or even a burden because happiness must be too good to be true if it's only temporary. These are just a few ways of how some people go about searching for happiness. Is happiness something that needs to be found or Is it closer than we think.
When thinking about how we experience happiness many people assume that it must come from enjoying the materialistic objects that we desire. When we possess happiness we find that sometimes we don't hold onto it for as long as we'd hoped for. If this is the way down happy lane we would only find ourselves in an endless cycle of chasing and feeling happiness for short periods of time. We feel that there's something that we have to have and once we do have it we want more. It shows that what we were given wasn't enough and proves it wasn't worth having in the first place. If we're constantly looking for happiness within objects then we won't ever experience true happiness.
Happiness isn't something that should require searching because it's in the smallest things throughout daily life. It's the simple things that we sometimes don't notice that can help us to experience happiness. It's always been within arms reach. One of the most common ways is when we take the time to reach out to others. Happiness is never too far away when we are helping others in a time of need.
Another way is by taking a moment to appreciate the things around us. We can easily grab onto happiness when we are thankful for the small things in life. When we give thanks for the essentials. Some even reach a point to no longer desire anything.Having more of unnecessary things usually doesn't increase a person's happiness. Are there any materialistic items or amount of wealth that could ever bring true happiness. To awaken another day with the gift of life, essentials needed to survive and access to resources that help make daily life simple is enough to make me smile. I can't complain about anything because I find any and every little thing to be thankful for. It's not about what you don't have It's about what you do have. Not to say that happiness can't be found when in the presence of certain beings or a special location that brings joy but there's much more to it. We search for happiness in wealth or objects when happiness could be right in front of us if we choose to see it.
