Call me old-fashioned, but I will never buy an e-book when I want to read a book for my enjoyment.
Yes, I realize it's 2018, but I can’t wrap my head around the whole Kindle craze. Of course, I don’t hate technology, I can’t think of a time when my phone and I aren’t in the same room. When it comes to reading, though, how can you not love picking up a physical book and reading the old-school way?
There are so many benefits to reading a physical book versus reading on a Kindle, tablet, or smartphone. For one, physical books are a lot more durable. You don’t have to worry about falls shattering screens, low power warnings, or your device overheating.
Books make great presents! It’s so meaningful for a friend to gift you a book because they took the time to find a book they think you would enjoy.
Books can also be passed down to other family members or can be shared within your friend group.
Books can obviously be found at Barnes and Noble, but the really special ones can be found where you least expect them. Think along the streets in Europe, in a thrift store, an independent bookstore, or in a coffee shop where they let you trade a book you have for one on their shelves.
If you enjoy reading in the first place (which I’m assuming you do), you know these books can take you away from reality and take you to a whole other world.
So why not be able to take a book with you wherever you go?
Get out there! Go read by the beach, read in a coffee shop, read in an open field. With how crazy life can get, it's important for us to take time for ourselves and enjoy a good book.
