What if you could make a difference while you sleep?

What if there was a hotel that could change lives?

That's the concept behind Jeremy Cowart's idea of The Purpose Hotel.

Cowart was recently named the “Most Influential Photographer on the Internet” by Huffington Post. Cowart is an Emmy-Nominated photographer, artist and entrepreneur. Cowart has taken portraits of many in the entertainment industry, including has taken portraits of many familiar names including Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Tim Tebow and The Kardashians. His work has been internationally published. With a huge Instagram and social media following, Cowart has strived to use his platform to make a difference.

His idea of the Purpose Hotel was inspired by his frequent travel as a photographer. Cowart writes, "...every time I stay at a hotel, I can't help but think--what if everything in this hotel was connected to a cause or a need?"

Building on this idea, Cowart begin to think up of a hotel in which every single thing in the hotel would aim to make a difference. The idea has been in the works for the past four years, finally giving birth to The Purpose Hotel.

The Purpose Hotel aims to revolutionize the hotel concept, changing the way we sleep. Each room in the hotel would sponsor a child, giving them access to education, hygiene items, food, etc. Guests would see the face of the child underneath their room number.

Every product in the hotel, such as the complimentary shampoo and conditioner, would be purchased from organizations that are making a difference in the world. Every product in the Hotel Store would benefit a cause as well. Even the hotel Wi-Fi would benefit a cause, such as human trafficking. Cowart said in a recent interview with DP Review "Instead of going out and buying soaps and shampoo from whoever, or artwork just to fill the hotel, we're going to go and source those directly from non-profits who are making or helping individuals-in-need make those products. In other words, we want to create jobs for people in need around the world."

Cowart aims to make the hotel as modern as possible. The hotel plans on regularly changing the themes of the hotel, so that no two stays at the hotel would be the same. The first hotel will be built in Nashville, Tennessee, with the hope to expand to various other locations.

It will probably be two to three more years before the Purpose Hotel will be built. Cowart has a Kickstarter campaign, with a current goal to raise two million dollars. This will allow The Purpose Hotel to get through the design phase as well as securing a piece of property for the hotel. The campaign currently (at the time this article is written) has over 2,500 backers. The Kickstarter campaign was launched 20 days ago.

The average person may not be able to afford to help build a well or sponsor a child. This concept, to make a hotel a facilitator of change, can allow anyone to make a difference in the world while they sleep.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
