Cheers everyone,
The first official day of Autumn is September 22, and if you're anything like me, you are probably ecstatic. Riding boots, cozy sweaters, leaves on the ground, football games... and Pumpkin Spice Lattes to keep you warm in the nippy weather.
Because the PSL is just so good, it has become more than just a popular Starbucks drink: it's a flavor. But are companies taking the PSL too far?
Here's a list of some good and bad (very bad) pumpkin spiced items on the market:
1. Pumpkin Spice Kale Chips
I love them separately, but together? Absolutely not.
2. Pumpkin Spice Candy Corn
I feel like these have potential.
3. Pumpkin Pie Potato Chips
pls no
4. Pumpkin Spice Greek Yogurt
I've had it before, and it is pretty good
5. Mini Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes
I can dig this
6. Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses
From experience, I can say with full confidence that these are amazing. Go buy 500 bags.
7. Pumpkin Spice Eggnog
Aside from the fact that this seems like too much sweet for even a Christmas elf to handle, it is mixing up two seasons. Don't try to rush my holiday spirit, Hershey!
8. Pumpkin Spice Milanos
I'll stick with the OG flavor, thanks!
9. Tastykake Pumpkin Spice Mini Donuts
Oh Lord I want them
10. Pumpkin Rolls
I hope these are good because I am going to find these and make them ASAP.
BONUS!
Because...yeah. It has gone too far.
Yeah, I think I'll stick with the original (except for maybe those cute lil mini cupcakes).
Before we part, my gift to you this Autumn is a recipe for my personal fav recipe for a homemade PSL...because everything tastes better homemade! (Duh.)
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 whole nutmeg
- 1/2-inch piece ginger, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup espresso or very strong coffee
- Whipped cream for serving
- Cinnamon for garnish
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Directions
- In a small saucepan, bring the milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger to a boil. Turn off heat and cover. Let mixture steep for 30 minutes.
- Divide espresso between 4 cups. Strain milk and divide between the 4 cups. Top each with dollop of whipped cream and dusting of cinnamon.

Comment what PSL products you would try and definitely wouldn't, and let me know if you try out my favorite recipe!
See ya next week!
