For those of us with a soft spot for the one and only Justin Drew, it is understood that, once diagnosed with the fever, it is nearly impossible to be cured. Some of us have loved Justin since his first soulful Youtube video graced the Earth with magnificence in 2008, and others have grown to love him as he has grown into the man he is today.
The last eight years have definitely been a roller coaster ride, as Justin experimented with adulthood in some pretty reckless ways. There are times when we hate ourselves for loving him so much, but we can’t help it. A lot of people just don't get it, but being a Belieber is not a choice, it’s a lifestyle. Here are some pros and cons about Justin that true Beliebers battle with all of the time.
Pro: That breathtaking singing voice.
I would be lying to you if I said that I didn’t melt into a puddle of infatuation every time I hear him belt out anything from "Down To Earth" to "Love Yourself." Homeboy has the voice of an angel, and to deny that would be ridiculous. From his upbeat recorded tracks to his goose bump-inducing acoustic melodies, we could listen to him serenade us all day. Most of the time, I’m convinced he’s singing to me personally. Which I’m sure is true.
Con: His hair, circa 2015-present
Justin, what the heck are you doing to your luscious mane? You revolutionized the hair game back in the day with your “Bieber flow," and evolved into a cute European-style a few years later. I don’t know what possessed you to bleach your perfect locks and let them hang over your face, and I think I can speak for all of us and say that it needs to change. You’re covering up your beautiful face, and you kind of look homeless. It is too late now to say sorry.
Pro: His love for music and his fans
Have you ever watched a JB interview and immediately fallen so deeply in love with him that you didn’t know your heart could feel so full? Me too. It’s no secret that Justin loves to perform and loves his fans, and feels so passionately about changing lives with his music. In the song, "Purpose," off of his new album, "Purpose," Justin shows us just how grateful he is to be in the place he is now as a musical icon, and that our love and support as fans have made him the man that he is today. As he has said, without us, he doesn’t know where he would be. You’re welcome, babe.
Con: His Selena obsession
Whether you were a Jelena fan or not, it is evident that for Selena, that relationship has terminated. Although Justin is a single man, he has made it very clear that his feelings for Selena are still very much present. His throwback posts with her are kind of nauseating and pathetic because one, his love for her is unrequited and two, he is not in love with one of us. One day he will realize that he and Selena just aren’t going to happen, and he will realize that his Beliebers are the only ones who deserve his love and attention.
Pro: His natural perfection
It doesn’t matter where he is or what he’s doing, there is no doubt in my mind that Justin is one of the most beautiful beings alive. His big brown eyes can make anyone swoon, and his smile is to die for. Not to mention his sculpted body, which seems to get better and better with time. Shawty is a 10, and would be impossible to resist if he showed up at my door at any time. Let's take a quick moment of silence to commemorate his Calvin Klein shoot.
Con: His attitude
Yes, we Beliebers are well aware that Justin could use an attitude adjustment. Time and time again he has shown his dark side to the press, to other celebrities, and even to his fans. Yes, he has been to jail for stupid reasons, and yes, he has acted in questionable ways that might come off as rude and careless. Canceling your meet and greets and not refunding those who spent thousands of dollars on them? Not cool, JB. He has definitely made a lot of mistakes in his time in the limelight, but can we really blame him? He’s only 22 years old and has been in the spotlight since he was about 14, so let’s go easy on him. We have all made ridiculous mistakes and have had bad days, except ours aren’t publicized on a worldwide scale the way his are. Let’s be gentle judges on the Biebs, shall we?
Pro: His goofiness
Justin is known for being a bit of a prankster and a goofball, and those are parts of his personality that we would never ever replace! He is notorious for riding around in Segways, pranking his friends and his team, and joking around with almost everyone. I know that if I was in Justin’s life, there would never be a dull moment, because this guy is the definition of a good time. He may act like a little kid at times, but don’t we all?
Justin may have some real flaws, but Beliebers wouldn’t have him any other way. Even though we hate how much we love him sometimes, we cannot possibly stop. We’re in this for the long haul, and you won’t change our minds about him. Justin is our ride or die, and we’re eternally grateful for his existence. You know you love him, too.
