My name is Bronwyn, therefore, I have to write this article. Many of us struggle with having a "weird" name, whether it be at Starbucks or in a gift shop where our names are never to be found on personalized souvenirs. Despite the difficulties we often face, there are so many reasons to be thankful for the unique name that your parents gave you! Besides, who even needs a keychain with their name on it? (...let me know if you ever find one with Bronwyn on it though...)
Pro: Compliments galore
Does't it rock when people mildly obsess over your name after you tell them what it is? I feel like a queen for about 30 seconds. Queen Bronwyn.
Con: Is that your first or your last name?

Pro: You always know when people are talking about you
"No I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about a different Bronwyn!" A different Bronwyn? Those exist?
Con: Starbucks & Tropical Smoothie

Pro: Nicknames
Before you know it, you have so many nicknames that you begin to forget your real name. Not really, but almost nobody calls you by your real name...except for your mom and dad.

Pro: Finding other people with your name is monumental

You know what I'm talking about. When the teacher is taking attendance for the first time and there is a long, hesitant pause because they can't pronounce someone's name...yeah, that's mine. Here!

Ooh, what's the story behind that name? Origin? Meaning?
Con: Mispronunciation
Eh, whatever. I don't feel like correcting them for the fifth time.
Pro: People will remember you
With a name like that, how could they forget?! I mean, after practicing its pronunciation nearly a million times, it's in people's heads for good.
Con: Are you a foreign exchange student?
I have been asked this question multiple different times throughout my schooling. Cool names exist within the United States, too!
Pro: Your name is incredible
Unique names are so cool, OK? It might seem a little discouraging when the barista at Starbucks regularly massacres your name, but you rock it because there aren't very many of you! Well, there's only one of you, but not very many others with your name. Unless your name is so unique that you're literally the only person with it in the world. That'd be sick.
