Come early spring semester, there's not much to look forward to. A couple weeks into your classes and your stress level has already got you wanting to throw yourself through a library window. The free time you have is cherished more than a well prepared meal that you also can't afford. Praying for a day off has become more of an unhealthy addiction than a routine. So when those first couple of snowflakes start falling, throw some extra layers on and stay inside because it's cold as sh*t and there is no point of doing anything productive. Here are some pros and cons of getting out of school for the day.
Class Cancelled Due to "Potential Winter Weather"
Pro:
Ayyye! No classes, yet you are still waiting for the bad weather to come. Most of the times it doesn't even snow. You wake up that day and the only ice you see is what has covered your car windows. You now have a full day to go and do whatever the hell you want. You're not snowed in so you have free range to venture out and go get Taco Bell.
Con:
Everyone was so hyped up when they got that email, but just like my ex girlfriend, it didn't come through. Just turned out to be another bland, old, cloudy day that just makes everyone more depressed.
When There is a Motha Luvin' Blizzard
Pro:
Sh*t just got real. Jeeps are plowing through campus streets dragging drunk idiots on inner tubes behind them accumulating more broken bones and concussions after every turn. You have the privilege of pelting your most hated enemies in the face with compacted ice balls with hopes of causing some sort of mental breakdown, which makes them want to run home and cry to their mommies. Or if you're a normal human being, you can probably make some snow angels or a snowman or something...
Con:
For some of us older species, living off campus could get in the way of this enjoyment. Your car is stuck in like five inches of snow, and even if you could get it out, no telling where you could get stuck or stranded. You and your roommates are stuck at your place of residence with nothing to eat but canned chicken and six channels on cable because your Internet is down. Sure you could get a snowball fight going with some people in your apartment complex, but I'd feel pretty bad if I knocked out a 4-year-old with some snow.
At this point, I would be happy if we just had a half day. Whatever time you get off, cherish that shiz because it doesn't seem to come around very often. Keep your head up, stay motivated, we only have like four months until we get to day drink by the pool and swim with some lovely ladies in minimal clothing.
