There's a lot of things I can't do in the world but one thing I can do is promise you. A promise is something that you can always depend and rely on. It's one thing to break your word or to not hold up to an agreement you've made but if you break a promise it's so much more. A promise is a bond, you are dedicating something within you to something or someone. Breaking a promise can break a heart, can break someone into tears, can break someones day; it's powerful and can break just about anything. All you can do in life is promise, and I'm here to make my promise to you.

I promise that when the clouds are grey we'll find the sunshine breaking through. I can't promise you that today will be a good day, but I promise to make the next one better. I promise I'll always be there to listen and hold your hand, that I'll always be there for you. I promise you late night movies and pizza. I promise that I'll do everything in my power to make you feel loved, to make you laugh. I can't promise that we'll always get along but I can promise that even when it seems like I'm not around I am. I promise late night movies and endless snacks, to sit there and listen when you feel like you're worlds coming down on you. I promise to be a mentor and a bad influence, I promise to do everything in my power to make you laugh. I promise to support your decisions, even though I may not agree with them all the time. I promise to never break these promises. I promise to be a true and constant friend.

I may not always keep my word and I admit that, at times I forget to do things I told people I would. I promise to never to break a promise, that if I promise you something I'll stick to it. I believe that if you truly care and love someone you're willing to make sacrifices for them, that you're willing to give up some of your happiness to make them happy. So before you promise someone something, think to yourself, can I promise myself that I'll hold up to their expectations and this promise?
