Priceless: Why I Respect 'For King And Country'

I'm sure many of you in the Christian category have at least heard of the band For King and Country. Their songs are wonderful, their concerts are fantastic, and their lyrics are pure for anyone of any age. I didn't know much about the band until hearing them perform at Winter Jam back in 2015. It was then that I learned about their Priceless ministry which is being turned into a movie. This ministry gave me a newfound appreciation for the band in all entirety.

Priceless goes against the trends of modern day society. The key purpose of the ministry is to show women that a man should treat them with honor and respect. This concept is given a physical symbol of an Australian penny on a chain to signify than men should view women as more priceless than all the money in the world.

"It might be hard to hear, but let me tell you dear; if you could see what I see, I know you would believe that isn't who you are. There's more to who you are."
-For King and Country

In retrospect, the world tells women that they are no more than objects worthy of no more than a one night stand. We have become so blind to what being treated well truly means because every aspect of media portrays well-treatment as not being kicked to the curb after a night in the club becomes a walk of shame the next day. Ladies, you are more than an object.

For King in Country has the right idea. Love is based on more than looks and worldly pleasure. The respect you give yourself is the respect that others will give you. Be a Proverbs 31 woman and allow God to show you your true worth. Once you find your own sense of self worth, a man will eventually come along who sees the same worth in you. If you want to be respected, begin with respecting yourself because at the end of the day it doesn't matter how the world sees you.

"I see you dressed in white, every wrong made right. I see a rose in bloom at the sight of you, oh so priceless: irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable, darling it's beautiful. I see it all in you, oh so priceless."
-For King and Country

Lastly, I wear my Priceless necklace as a reminder not to settle for someone for the sake of a relationship. I wear it as a reminder to stick to my high standards and not settle for someone I cannot potentially view as my future spouse. It's funny that something as small as a chain and a single cent coin can be a reminder of how much God loves me and how much I should expect in life, but somehow wearing it reminds me each and every day that I am priceless. This ministry has changed my outlook on so much and I hope it does the same for all of you! God bless!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
