I am currently watching the Second Presidential Debate. I am left with many more questions than answers and feeling extremely angry. I live in Michigan, near metro Detroit. In my opinion, Michiganders are some of the most diverse and accepting people I have met around this country. So I may be a little bias but when these hot-button issues pop up during the debate, I cannot help but feel angry! Let me go ahead and give you a little insight of why both Hillary and Trump should not be allowed to speak anymore.
First off, right out of the gate Trump and Hillary have to fight about the emails. Excuse me, both of you are crooks...stop pointing fingers and playing this blame game. We all are criminals in some way. Hell if you don't use your blinker, technically you are breaking the law and a criminal. My personal favorite law to break is to eat a cheeseburger walking backward in Okalahoma...that is just silly but it is a law none the less. We all have broken the law at one time or another, but does that mean I care about how you are going to run the country...no. YOU both are liars and out to smear the other person...personally, I don't want someone like that leading my country. I want someone with integrity and apparently, both of you are lacking in this department.
Next, let's talk about the religion of Islamic faith. In all honesty, I am not really well versed in their religion nor am I in Satanism. But I live in a country where we have the freedom to express that religion. Personally in my own spiritual walk to find God has taken many forms methodist, catholicism, baptist etc. It is not anyone else's right to tell me how to practice, therefore no one else should be persecuted for their religion. As an American, I am angry we are not more offended as a people that these candidates do not respect religion at all. I feel like the whole issue should boil down to the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." THAT MEANS THE PRESIDENT SHOULD NOT TAKE SIDES OR PERSECUTE SOMEONE BASED OFF THEIR RELIGION. I understand patriotism, but we cannot just assume all people who are of the Islamic faith are evil. It angers me as a Christian and as an American. What people don't understand that I as a person who lives amongst a largely Islamic population, these are not evil people they are hard working families that have come to this country to make a better life. How is that any different than our ancestors? I just want to stress that people in the general population are good hard-working people, we as a generation should not let the media shove it down our throats that we are "afraid" of everyone. Screw that, I am not afraid of other people because of their religion, race or gender...I ask questions because I don't understand and need clarity. People in general really want to be understood and PERSONALLY, I think we need a leader who ASKS us as the people what it is that WE want and generally wants to understand what is going on with us as a people.
That leads me to the next point to the taxes. Literally, screw how much we are taxed and the cost of living. I am going to be very transparent here, I make $1563 bi-weekly. I bring home $947, I have to pay about $400 in taxes and $73 for my health insurance I HAVE TO HAVE...That is a third of my income...I can hardly afford a reliable car, home, food and clothing for my children. This angers me. I have worked hard and the company I work for pays me an honest wage but my GOVERNMENT really is robbing me and it hurts me as a citizen. I understand the importance of taxes to fix our roads and employ police and firefighters but, how is it that these people can spend millions on campaigns...you want to get my vote...stop campaigning make one ad, "I want to be your president, let me show you why I am the best for the job. Anyone that gives me money to the campaign I will be giving it to our National deficit". That would be the person I vote for.
Let me just summarize my ideal candidate and why both Trump and Hillary are not the people I want to represent me as a nation. I want someone who has integrity, transparency, and most important the wisdom listen. Is that so much to ask for? You called a girl a fat pig, I can deal with that, I would be lying if I said I was never guilty of saying something mean to someone else. You made a mistake with your email because you didn't read the fine print, I have done that too...I may be able to forgive those issues. But this constant smearing and hostilities have got to stop. Your political parties are making us look foolish and I cannot remain quiet any longer. I am an AMERICAN, I have but one voice and one vote, but you are driving so many of us to stay at home and not vote. I cannot believe that politics has let us forget the voices of our ancestors that have FOUGHT, BLED AND DIED SO WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE! I am disappointed in the Government as a whole for letting this disgusting display happen, over the last 20 years, I have seen nothing but a decline in the quality of life for the American Citizens in my community. This is a disgusting display of not listening to your team. Because like it or not we as Americans are a team, it is about time we started acting like one. Hillary/Trump if you ever see this I hope my words haunt you because we as a people had to elect you. Please take on a role as the captain of the team and realizing we are only as strong as our weakest link. Let's start building our communities together, rather than fighting each other. The legislation is not the answer, I am sorry it is getting your hands dirty and working alongside the people you represent. The first person to start talking like that will have my vote...as my mom always says, "You catch more flies with honey than vinagar."
