Any college student who loves their university knows just how hard it is to say goodbye in May. You aren't saying goodbye to a campus, you're saying goodbye to your home. College is a place where you meet your for-life friends and make too many memories to count, so it's only natural that you feel a little blue when you say goodbye.
You spend all summer counting down the days until you move back, FaceTiming your friends, and constantly checking and chiming into several group chats. Finally, it comes time to pack up and head out, and that's when you learn that moving back to college is a an adventure of its own.
Here are the stages of preparing to move back to college as told by all your favorite "Parks & Rec" characters:
1. When you realize you get to see all your college friends in just a week (!!!).
You've waited the entire summer for all of your friends to be back in one city, and the realization of that becoming reality so soon is too exciting for words.
2. Your reaction when your mom reminds you that you "need" to start packing, like, now...
Because ~apparently~ if you don't, you'll "put it off until last minute".
3. ...and then you decide mom is exaggerating and you can wait a couple of days.
It doesn't take you that long to pack, plus you're only about halfway through binge watching your latest Netflix obsession and you just have to finish it before you can do anything else.
4. When, after a few more days of Netflix and pajamas, it sinks in that you only have one day left to pack up everything you need to take back to school.
You did put it off until last minute, but you have to smile through the panic because otherwise you'll get the "I told you so" lecture from mom again.
5. You finally dive into the contents of your bedroom, optimistic and determined to get things done...
You're just going to power through no matter how long it take!
6. ...and then, 5 hours in, you realize how much stuff you have.
At this point you question why you would ever procrastinate such a huge task. Seriously, why is there so much STUFF!? And you don't even remember buying half of it???
7. By the time your mom comes to check on your progress, you're just lying in the floor next to a pile of clothes...
You don't know how you've come this far, but you're tired and you've lost basically all of your motivation to finish the task at hand.
8. ...so she comes to the rescue to help you finish strong.
Because, even though she told you so, she's not going to make you stay up all night alone.
9. When you finish at 2:30 am the night before you leave, you get almost as excited about being done as you do about seeing your friends and university again.
You can finally sleep and recuperate from the long, ~grueling~ task that is packing and get pumped for your return journey to your home away from home.
