So you're a senior and you're graduating college this semester (precisely 98 days, not that anyone's counting), and everyone is dying to know what the hell you're going to do with your life. Do we really have to know!? The question of the century that I get asked on the daily is "Whats next?" "Where are you going?" "Are you moving?" "Do you have a job lined up?" Why can't there be a "Go Away" button unless you have something better to talk to me about.
Life decisions. They suck, but we all have to make them at some point. My life is a big question mark filled with a bunch of what-if scenarios, and guess what? I am perfectly fine with that.
If there's anything I've learned in college, it's that plans change. Nothing goes as planned, and sometimes you have to let go in order for life to take its course. I used to be the biggest planner known to man until I realized I was missing out on what was going on right in front of me. I was so worried about my future, where I'd be going, what I'd be doing. I knew where I'd be a year from then, five years and 10 years, until one day you realize you might not get to see or experience the plans you've been living up to all along. Everything that was once so important to you isn't so big anymore. Faith will find it's way and hard work will pay off if you focus on being the best version of yourself rather than out racing someone else.
Some people might have it figured out after graduation, as for me and 90 percent of the population I'm going to go ahead and say that we're figuring it out one day at a time. Opportunities are there and it's all about taking that leap of faith to go after them. Listen to your heart and your mind will follow. After all, what's the rush? We're living young, wild and free and the world is our oyster. Travel! Explore, move to another country and get uncomfortable. It's now or never before our lives begin.
I'm ready for an adventure, and although I don't know what that adventure is yet, I feel like one is coming.
So maybe I don't have a job lined up, or haven't started applying or I'm not going to grad school, but all I know is I have a job right now and that's more than a lot of people can say. I am grateful and always have to remember to trust that there is a plan for us all in life and we are here for a purpose. Never settle.
Find your purpose and find what makes you soar. It's OK if you don't have all the answers. After all, life isn't an equation to solve; it's a story to explore and document. So write one hell of a book and make it a good one so that the next time someone asks you what's next, they won't have to be told.
