The great John Mayer once wrote back in 2006, in one of his lesser known songs “Belief,” “is there anyone who ever remembers changing their mind from the paint on a sign?” Which may sound a little pessimistic, but I think we have a tool more powerful than posting or protesting.
Lately, it seems like something horrific has happened in the world, and even in our own backyard, just about every day. It breaks my heart. I was praying the night after the police shootings in Dallas and I was at a loss for words, the only things I could pray was “Jesus, we need you.”
Because of all this, my and I’m sure everyone else’s feed has been filled with politics, and whose fault it is, whose lives matter, Hillary, Trump, terrorists, gun control, etc. Everyone has an opinion and is adamant about sharing it. Which is fine, I’m glad you stand on something and aren’t just apathetic about everything that happens. Here’s the thing though: most people don’t care about your opinion and your post probably won’t change their mind, but God desperately wants to hear from you. There’s so much evil in the world that laws won’t fix, but prayer for people’s hearts will. I don't know what you believe, but I have seen firsthand that prayer changes circumstances. Also let us not pray once when something tragic happens, but continually until we see change, and then pray some more.
So here’s something to think about: are you praying about it as much as you’re posting about it? I think if we spent more time on our knees than on our phone I think we could more stuff done.
