Dear Little Sister,
I have loved you more than life since the day God placed you in my family. You have continuously filled every day with joy and laughter. I truly believe that you were placed in my life because you are my better half. My strengths are your weaknesses and vice versa. You may not believe it but just your existence has taught me so much: how to love unconditionally, selflessness, and dependence, because my happiness depends so much on yours.
You make me so very proud to call you my sister. My goal has always been to be the perfect role model for you. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way, and I am sorry that I haven't always been the perfect sister, but it hasn't been for a lack of trying.
I will pray every day until the end of my existence that you will be better than me, that you will learn from my mistakes and that you never stop believing in yourself and what you are capable of achieving. You do not even begin to grasp your potential, and when you forget this I will always be there to remind you.
Jeez, it blows my mind how much I love you and what I would do to ensure your happiness. I would give up anything for you, and I don’t even realize how much I tend to coddle and spoil you…oops.
So this is what I do ask from you. Please don’t forget what I go out of my way to do for you. I don’t expect to be thanked; because that’s not why I do it but I’m not going to lie, it makes me feel good when you notice. I pray that you know that you are always loved by not only me but your Father and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Today I promise you this -- I will love you and continue to pray this prayer for the rest of my days. As your big sister, I pray that you know your value and the role that you play, in not only this world but in my life. You inspire me and everyone around you to be better. I pray for your protection and that you never lose sight of the goal in front of you and that your intelligence and spirit continue to push you closer and closer to obtaining it.
Amen.
P.S. I have never doubted that God knew just what He was doing when He gave me you as my lifelong partner and best friend. No matter how angry you make me over stolen clothes or lost earrings, at the end of each day I close my eyes knowing that someone has my back and would push a kid off the Jungle gym for calling me four-eyes. And guess what? I would do the same. That's what being a sister is all about, little one.
So just keep doing your thing and never forget your Father loves you and your big sister is praying for you.
