She's passionate. She's ambitious. She's independent.
Not every girl in the world has the opportunity to get the education that most of us girls are more than highly capable of. In this society and country, we grew up going to school. It was our routine, our culture. It was normal. However, if you step outside of the U.S. into some parts of Europe then into the Middle East, education becomes more rare for women; especially young girls. Some of these girls are taught that being a wife and a mother are the only duties they shall achieve in their life as a girl. Cooking, cleaning, sewing, are some of the only skills they are expected to carry out their whole life. They are born into this lifestyle and have no idea that something like school even exists. Don't get me wrong, these skills are daily life necessities and are great traits, but should a girl be exposed to only these "womanly" duties?
On the contrary, some of these girls are aware of the education possibilities but are limited to them. Malala Yousafzai was one of these girls. Ambitious, Malala was and she paid a bit of a price for it from the Taliban but now she has power. The last thing a girl should feel is less important or that their voice doesn't matter. In that sense, she got away from the anchor, which was the Taliban, that held her back from getting an education and now inspires millions of other girls with her voice. This is power, this is passion, and most importantly this is independence.
As a girl, we are generally labeled as "small", "cute", "shy", "timid". These are words we don't have to believe. We don't have to live up to these stereotypes and neither should any other girl in the world. The girls who are born into the life of a housewife at ages 13, 14, 15, etc. should not have to live that way and should be exposed to the reality that even their hopes and dreams for themselves could someday come true too. Every single female should have the opportunity to take part in this tedious little word; education.
This power and everything that is possible is simple indescribable. Why should girls be hidden from this freedom?
