Theater is a magical thing. Putting together and investing into an imaginary world to share it with others is something so special. As actors we get the chance to entertain, to provoke thought and to create laughter—maybe even tears! Putting together a show takes a lot of time, effort, and time. Post productions often come with a mix of feelings—which I thought none other than Spongebob Squarepants would be able to accurately demonstrate some of these feelings.
Celebration
We did it! We finished our run and put on a fabulous show. Time to party and some post strike celebratory pie from Perkins.
Separation Anxiety
It’s been a whole two days without seeing your theatre pals and it just doesn’t feel right. You went from seeing each other every day to nothing. I think it’s time for a reunion.
The Overwhelming Feeling of Unlimited Time
You have the whole entire evening free? The possibilities are endless! You could watch Netflix! You could hang out with friends! You could exercise! Or you could catch up on all the homework you put off during the show.
Nostalgia
You find yourself looking at pictures from the show and smiling. You miss the people, the memories made, and of course the performing! It brings back the memory of when so-and-so tripped coming on stage or some of the crazy shenanigans that went on in the dressing room.
Looking For The Next Thing…
It’s only been a week, but you’re dying to get on stage again. If you don’t already have your next show lined up, you spend your free time looking up auditions. And thus the cycle repeats!
