Positivity Is Key

How thinking positive has the ability to change your life (for the better)!

Positivity Is Key

Why is that our world is so filled with such angst and negativity? Why is that being positive seems to be one of the hardest tasks for people to complete? I believe, that it is hard because attitudes are contagious. Have you ever thought that your negative attitude could be bringing down the person standing right next you? When you put that small detail in perspective, you may be able to realize that if you want a happy environment around you, that it all starts with your own mindset.

As the great Ghandi once said, "be the change that you wish to see in the world." For me, I am writing this article hoping that it will bring attention to all you negative Nancy's out there, that life is not very fun when all you have are negative thoughts. One of the most important factors that can actually make a difference in having a positive outlook on life is by surrounding yourself with the right people. Who you hangout with can make a world of a difference in your outlook on life. Avoid negative influences. Negative people want other people to be negative along with them, break that cycle, encourage positivity. Appreciate those people that encourage you and always try to help you have a little extra pep in your step.

Did you realize that one simple act of kindness a day can not only brighten someone else's day but your own as well? It could be as simple as holding the door for someone or even simpler like just giving someone a smile. Positivity is what our world needs more of. Another piece of advice I have is to inform you that Twitter is not your diary. Stop oversharing on every complaint, or negative issue that has happened that day. If you think happy, it will make you be happy. To my fellow young people out there, drama is never a good thing. Gossip does not bring people up, it only tears people down. We should be going into our days thinking of thoughts on how we can better our world.

We often forget how blessed we are, and yes it is very easy to overlook all the amazing aspects in your life. So take a step back and reevaluate. I bet you will realize that there is so many great things to be happy about. Count your blessings and not your problems. Life gets so hard sometimes but when things are not going your way, it might be because there is something bigger and better out there planned for you. Don't go thinking about what could go wrong all the time. Instead, think about everything that could go right. Optimistic attitudes are always the way to go. Striving to become a better person and encouraging others to do the same can be such a huge impact on many lives. Find ways to better yourself, encourage your friends, and shut down all those negative thoughts. Negativity is a poison that drains your mind. So don't go wasting time with hostile thoughts, fill your mind with joy. Being a glass half full kind of person is the way to be. Life is a gift, so go out there and enjoy it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
