I’ve been listening to Christmas music since mid-November, but now I can go public with my deep love for the holiday season. There’s the cozy sweaters, the hot cocoa, the sweating through the cozy sweaters from all the hot cocoa you’re drinking. But most importantly, there’s the Christmas music. There’s obviously the ~classics~, but I’ve compiled a list of some newer, BUT EQUALLY AMAZING Christmas songs for you to add to your playlist!
1. Kelly Clarkson, “Wrapped in Red”
Off the Wrapped In Red album. We as a human race are not good enough for Kelly Clarkson, so I need to mention this FIRST, right-off-the-bat.
2. Kelly Clarkson, “Underneath the Tree”
The entire Kelly Clarkson Christmas album is fire, but I can’t do this entire list as a Kelly Clarkson tribute piece, but I HAVE to include “Underneath the Tree.”
3. Ariana Grande, “Santa Tell Me”
I could listen—and do listen—to this song the entire holiday season. It’s peppy and pop-y but has sleigh bells (slay bells). Love it, so I listed it.
4. Lady Gaga, “White Christmas”
Gaga is really re-inventing old tunes. “Cheek to Cheek,” and now “White Christmas?” She added on another verse because she loved it so much.
5. Lady Gaga & Joseph Gordon Levitt, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”
Gender reversal, Muppets, and JGL. Done, done, and done.
6. Idina Menzel & Michael Buble, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”
Such a cute music video!
7. Manila Luzon, "Slay Bells"
Off the Christmas Queens album—it’s a drag queen Christmas!
8. The AAA Girls, “Dear Santa, Bring Me A Man”
Keeping up with the drag queens, Alaska Thunderfvck, Courtney Act and Willam Belli covered this hit from The Weather Girls.
9. Kylie Minogue, “Santa Baby”
The OG Kylie.
10. Mariah Carey, “All I Want For Christmas Is You”
Last, but OBVIOUSLY NOT LEAST. The queen of Christmas.
You’re welcome for this very necessary list.
