As young adults and college students, we have more important things to worry about such as when is that next assignment due and what we should start to watch on Netflix now that we just finished our last season. To some, politics’ does not even cross their mind, while to others it is their major/minor and they just simply care about America’s future. In either way you might chose, politics do matter and not voting is a vote in itself. By saying, "I don’t pay attention to politics," might be how you really feel, but are you willing to allow someone into our country and government into control when you don’t even know what they stand for?
With this being the next year to elect a new president, this is when you should really focus on politics. You should study the candidate’s beliefs, what they stand for in each party and make a clear choice that you can support. It is important to think about your future because politics play a huge factor in that. Every candidate is going to make you feel a certain way, whether that be love or hate, when you read/hear what they have to say. This is good because then you can determine for yourself who you want to represent you as a person in this country.
If you’re still reading this article and you still think politics are not a big deal, let me give you a few reasons why you should care.
Politics affect the cost of:
The food you eat
The cost of gas
The cost of your tuition
The cost of your utilities
The cost of your insurance
The cost of taxes (that are likely coming out of your paycheck already)
Your job
Your safety
And most importantly your future.
This is everything applying to any college student and this why you should take some time to register to vote and make a stand for yourself.
College students play a huge part in elections. People never really think about college students voting because they think they are too busy trying to start their lives. But our votes can make a huge change in our demographic. Young voters have a fresh mind and so much room to think and make decisions for themselves, rather than falling under the influence of others around them. Now is our time to shine as young adults and make this country stand strong.
Your Vote Is Your Voice, It Matters
