Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, you need to think again. Last Sunday, we saw the arrival of the 50th anniversary of the greatest sports event in all of American culture: the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the crown jewel of sports events. Over 167 million people tuned in last Sunday to watch the family friendly, entertaining, and thrilling sports event…and then Beyoncé showed up.
The British rock band Coldplay was set to headline the halftime show and I have to admit, I was pretty excited. Coldplay makes some nice, family friendly music that I love snapping my fingers to. They surprised us all, though, with straight up, out of control gay propaganda. During their performance, they turned the crowd into a huge gay rainbow love fest and had the words “Believe in Love” sprawled out across the stadium. What does that even mean? Chris Martin even had the gay flag rubbed on his face by an extra next to the stadium.
Bruno Mars’ performance, too, was completely inappropriate. His dancing was extremely sexual and had way too many hip thrusts. Even Elvis Presley would’ve found his performance disgusting. Just imagine the effect Bruno Mars’ dancing had on the children who watched the performance: absolutely horrifying.
If they didn’t think Bruno Mars and Coldplay were enough, they added Beyoncé into the mix for a completely uncalled for and unjust performance. Beyoncé and her dancers were dressed in black army clothing and black berets to imitate the black hate group, the Black Panthers. The Black Panthers, for those of you who are unaware of this vile organization, is rooted in communist thought and race war violence. Beyonce's support of this group is explicitly anti-cop and unjust. Before the show, some of Beyoncé’s dancers even dared to politicize the death of African American Mario Woods. Beyoncé also performed her new song “Formation” during the performance, which is about the “Black Lives Matter” protests.
I really don’t care what Beyoncé, Coldplay and Bruno Mars have to think about gay rights and the Black Lives Matter movement. All I ask is that they keep it out of MY entertainment. I, and most of my fellow Americans, want to watch the Super Bowl in peace. Why do so many entertainers feel the need to politicize everything? Everything is now about race and gay rights. It’s almost as if these people live these causes every waking day of their life, without any rest. Hopefully next year we can have a more wholesome and ethical performance during our halftime.
