Political shows seem to be popping up all over the place recently. With the 2016 election coming up the buzz can only get more intense. If you are interested in seeing what politics in the United States is like from the viewpoint of a PR "fixer," a congressman, the white house staff, Secretary of State or a political family, these shows will give you the inside and out of life in Washington.
1. "Scandal"

If it's Shonda, it's a must watch. Olivia Pope is the ultimate female power figure in the show, along with her steamy hot love affair. The different scandals that she fixes in every episode with her dream team will keep you on your toes.
2. "House of Cards"

The Netflix original is unlike anything you have seen before in its style of filming. You will have a love/hate relationship with Kevin Spacey as he is the crazy intelligent, but manipulative politician. His wife, played by Robin Wright, helps to make them the dynamic power couple that they are. You will never see the next thing coming on this show.
3. "West Wing"
This show is old school, but still very good. If you want to see the inside workings of the White House this is the entertaining way to witness it all. Similar to House of Cards, but the characters actually have good intentions.
4. "Madam Secretary"

Basically what you would expect Hillary Clinton's time as the Secretary of State to be like. Great show if you are looking for a strong female lead. Shows the inside workings of the Administration, but from the point of view of the Secretary rather than the traditional White House president's.
5. "Political Animals"
This family was born and raised in Washington. The mother shows the hardship of trying to be a successful politician and handling her family duties. Each episode brings a new family drama and political scheme.
