Am I the only one still in shock that Donald Trump is actually running for president? Am I the only one who thinks his politics are simply outrageous? Now, this is not to bash the conservative party in any way or fashion; I have no problem with Republicans; I just have a problem with Donald Trump.
There are many examples that display that this time around politics are being replaced my popularity -- who is more famous or who has more money. These things should not matter. America needs a leader who can represent every gender, race, age, and economic class. The way the polls are looking this year is proving that no one cares about real politics anymore. In being an active CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News viewer, I've seen all sides of the political spectrum. So I know that there is no way that all my fellow Americans who plan on voting are paying close attention to what the presidential candidates are saying.
Dear reader, if you have been following this political campaign as close as I have, you know that the infamous Donald Trump has the top ranking in the Republican polls. He has won the support of many Americans with the "no filter" comments and conservative views and interesting policies. Although many believe that Donald Trump has come out the blue and into the political race out of nowhere, they just weren't paying much attention. Remember when Donald Trump was in the press for his negative comments about current President Obama? Stating that he did not believe he was born in the United States and asking if he could see President Obama's birth certificate? I mean, seriously, this is the height of arrogance. Can you recall a time in political history when a man who was not involved in politics questioned the citizenship of a president! I have to pull race into this, but I can't imagine Donald Trump asking any other president in American history such an insane question. As we all know, it is a REQUIREMENT for the president of the United States to be from the United States or to have a parent who is an American citizen, if born abroad. This was just the beginning of outlandish comments that have been said in the campaign so far.
Another presidential candidate by the name of Carly Fiorina was caught in the storm of one of Trump's fiery comments during an interview with a Rolling Stone reporter. Carly Fiorina's face appeared on the TV screen and Trump said to the reporter, "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that, could you imagine that being the face of our next president?" Carly Fiorina's responded to these comments with much class, stating that she believed that Trump was just upset that her numbers are rising in the polls.
I mentioned a comment of Trump's from the very beginning of his campaign to the most recent one; I didn't mention many of the comments in between. I hate to be so harsh, but it seems like Donald Trump is a bully, which brings me to my ultimate point: Is this a political campaign or a popularity contest? Only America can decide.
