His hair was fire
The flames danced atop his head
A dance known yet unknown
His eyes were the embers
Glowing and pulsing below a fiery tango
They captured any gaze with fierce mesmerization
Her hair was the cool earth
It was full of life and everchanging
Sometimes flowers peeked through the deep brown
Her eyes were the rocks
Clustered together in a cool gray
Covering everything hidden underneath
Glowing embers lay upon warm earth
Rocks surround the fire
Keeping it in control
They hold one another
Hot flames tease the rigid stones
Bringing them color and life
And yet
The same stones that control the fire
Refuse to let it grow
The fire grows smaller
Until the embers turn to ash
And the rain washes away the last markings
Left on the rocks from the fire
So there the rocks sit
The kisses scorched upon them worn away
From years of rain and wind
The earth and rocks wonder
What could have made the fire leave
Unaware of the descruction they created
