when the world is covered in darkness
and death appears at every door
we shall not be afraid
for the light of the Lord
will always be there
come most holy light
shine upon us
illumine our hearts with your love
strike the shades of fear from our faces
even in the deepest parts of the universe
beyond what we can see in the night sky
shines the light of God in the faintest
twinkling of a star reflected in the glistening of
an eye
the light shines in the darkness
and though the light may be in the darkness
that was also made by the Creator
the darkness shall never overcome the light
may the light, the love of the Lord, shine upon our faces
and renew the face of the earth
that where we stand is no longer a hopeless abyss
but a peaceful sunlit, son-lit, love-lit beach
