My writing used to make me fly
to places where I moved so freely.
it consisted of all the aspirations
that filled my heart completely.
Healthy, happy, self-fulfilling-
those words that filled the pages.
I loved to describe my past, present
and future; events at all ages...
Bouncing on Grandpa's lap at six,
a new puppy at the age of seven,
baking with Grandma all the time,
and camping until I was eleven.
From new friends to best friends
I laughed all night long
as we told silly secrets
and wrote stupid songs.
Career: Architect.
Travel destination: France.
Long-term acquisition:
some coordination to dance.
Then I got a little older
as all young girls will do.
I was immersed in other activities,
my creative writing days were through.
Although I still made memories
with my family and my friends,
It was you who recreated my desire to write,
by your stories, beginning to end.
I swear you're still a kid inside,
which would be an awful thing to lack;
especially since you're the one who
seemed to bring all my memories back.
You've reminded me what it was like
to have a most important thing-
the memories of bonfires, madlibs, movie nights,
and the Frankie Valli songs I used to sing.
Not only is it the moments you've
showed me I should never forget,
but the importance of never ceasing
to stop creating them like all the rest.
I've made bucket-lists upon
bucket-lists of the things I want to do,
but one would hear that's a waste
if one were listening to you.
"Why do you need a list?" you asked.
" If you want to do something, then just do it."
I think you half-meant that as a joke,
but my mind saw a lot more to it.
So thank you for your stories,
they're more important than you know.
I'm going to collect so many memories,
I'll write them down, and never let them go.
