Something for everyone! Whether you are on break from school or traveling for the holidays, give these shows a listen to fill your time and improve your life.

Gals On The Go

Gals on the Go

www.listennotes.com

Hosted by college gals Danielle Carolan and Brooke Miccio, you'll find an array of topics and structures on this pod. Since both hosts are also YouTubers, they'll do some Q & A's, bring guests on the show, address balancing full-time school with traveling and being an "influencer"- and what does being an influencer even mean? If you're a college-aged girl like me, I can't imagine you disliking this podcast.

The Morning Toast

Giphy

Sisters Claudia and Jackie Oshry host the Millennial Morning show every weekday at 10:30, primarily on a YouTube live stream, but they also post it as a podcast afterward. They cover he Fast Five Stories you need to know before you wake up and take a bite out of your morning toast... get it? These stories focus on pop culture, but sometimes hone in on an important larger cultural tidbit or even dive into the world of tech. You might already follow the sisters on Instagram, @girlwithnojob and @jackieoproblems, but if you don't, I highly recommend it. Whether on Instagram or on The Toast, they are only serving up premium content.

Girls Gotta Eat

Giphy

Have you tried dating as a 20-something? I haven't and I still find this podcast incredibly hilarious and relatable. Rayna and Ashley are talking all things relationships, from how can I make him commit to navigating long distance to defining the relationship. They are refreshingly honest and hold nothing back, which we can all appreciate.

This American LifeĀ

Giphy

This podcast is also an NPR weekly show, but don't let that scare you away yet! Ira Glass explores entertaining journalism and does it very well. Each week's show has a designated theme and is comprised of one or tow "acts" that delve into that theme in unexpected ways. Recently I listened to one titled "How I Read It", which covered documents we wouldn't think to read and how they show us things we don't expect. I didn't think I would like it, but they tell these stories so well, you end up wanting more when the episode ends. There's no limit to what this show will address so I would recommend this to any and everyone!

Thick and Thin

Giphy

Did you like the show "Sex and the City?" You will love this podcast. Katy Bellotte tackles life and love in New York City as a recent college graduate, and her musings give me major Carrie Bradshaw vibes. I'm not a college graduate and I don't live in New York City, but I appreciate how Katy covers topics we might find uncomfortable or want to avoid and does so with grace.

Rise Together

Giphy

Husband and wife Dave and Rachel Hollis combine relationship advice with their own experiences to provide tangible ways to improve your relationship. You will find yourself walking away from listening to an episode wanting to be a better friend, sister, partner, leader. This show may be targeted towards couples, but I learn how to be a better version of myself with each episode. We could all use some of Rise Together in our lives!

Whether you're still enjoying a break from school, or you're heading back to the real world's responsibilities, be sure to check out these entertaining and hilarious podcasts!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast ā€œBirthdayā€ on anyoneā€™s birthday. I knew all of the words to ā€œBack In The U.S.S.Rā€ by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. Iā€™m not someone to ā€œfangirlā€ but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
