The month of October is officially known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but for the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha, every month of the year is an opportunity to raise education and awareness for this widespread disease.
Zeta Tau Alpha chapters across the nation host philanthropy events each and every year to benefit this important cause. The Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation has been a part of the fight against breast cancer dating back to 1992, and has continued to raise millions of dollars through national fundraising efforts ever since. About one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and is why all funds received are donated directly to breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
This year, the Beta Gamma chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha at Florida State University plans on hosting their 14th annual Crown Classic event, which is a two day, all male flag football tournament on April 2 and 3. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the old intramural fields on Florida State’s campus, where teams of seven players play against each other to move their way through the tournament. Last year, there were over one hundred teams registered, with participants ranging from all over the country, as well as from the local Tallahassee community. With the help of these teams, local sponsors, and the sisters of Beta Gamma, over $25,000 was raised to benefit this cause.
This year, YOU can help the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha at Florida State increase this amount! They would love to see you there and cheer you on throughout the course of the tournament. If you cannot play in the tournament but still wish to contribute, there are other ways to donate, such as through this link. With your contribution, you will become a valuable part of Zeta’s mission to find a cure for this disease. A little bit of hope goes a long way, so any donation will be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, if you are a business owner or know of a business owner who would be interested, you can easily become a sponsor in exchange for a monetary donation. For details about this, as well as more information regarding Crown Classic, please visit this website.
So come on out and play for the cure!
