Just about every sorority woman can say that Big Sis Week was the best week of their lives. The excitement leading up to reveal is unreal and indescribable. So here's what all the fuss is about:
1. That phone call saying you're going to be a big:
You have your phone on ring, volume all the way up, and you just sit and wait until you get that call. "Hi, you got a little," is all you hear before you start to scream and cry. You call your big and say she's going to be a grandma and you couldn't be happier.
2. Staying up for hours with the mantra, "No sleep till reveal:"
Your apartment is covered in glitter, paint, and shirts for your little. For some reason, there's blue paint on your face and you can't remember if you put one coat of mod podge on or two.
3. Running to Michael's and Walmart a million times during the week:
"I need more glitter!," "Sh*t I forgot to buy more mod podge!" "Hey I'm at Walmart getting my little's favorite food, can I call you back?"
4. Creating the Twitter/Facebook/Instagram profile:
This is where the fun begins: digging up those embarrassing sixth-grade selfies and reposting them for the world to see.
5. Writing clues:
Tricking your little into thinking it's someone else in your family or just plain lying to her and giving her the most random clues you can think of!
6. Having your sisters stalk her for you:
Since you can't go to the house in fear you'll blow it and burst out, "I'M YOUR BIG," you do the next sane thing you can think of: having a sister stalk her. I'm talking live photo updates of her seeing her mess and maybe even videos if at all possible.
7. There's also at least one (but probably many more) mental breakdowns:
Whether it's the spray paint making you loopy or your hair being tied too tight so it doesn't get in the way of crafting, you're bound to breakdown. Maybe you think you're not ready to be a big yet. Maybe you're stressed because you also have three exams this week. Maybe you're just really emotional because you're on your period too (seriously? worst. time. ever. Mother Nature!) Whatever the case, just know — it's normal.
8. AND FINALLY IT'S REVEAL:
The day you have been waiting for is here. The day you reveal yourself to your little. She'll run and jump into your arms and you'll both start sobbing hysterically while Grandma records the whole thing for memories.
