Having A Planner Changed My Life

When your life is chaos, at least make it organized chaos.

Having A Planner Changed My Life
Miranda Myers

I don't know about y'all, but I am a busy little bee almost all the time. I have lots of meetings, homework assignments, exams to take, people to see, and work. I struggled super hard when I didn't have something to help organize my time in a way that is constructive for a long time. In high school, I never used a physical planner, and I started using one once I started college and my life was forever changed.

I bought a plum paper planner last summer, and Y'all. It is amazing, it was completely customizable and they also do monthly STICKER SUBSCRIPTIONS. I am HYPE about it because I am very pro-sticker for my planners. That's beside the point though, I basically have my entire life color-coded in my little 5 by 7 planner. I list out my class and work times, I list out my homework assignments in each class' respected color, I list out my meetings, put down when I go to church, and I also make sure to make my planner look fun with.... you guessed it! Stickers.

It helps me feel like my life is somehow put together in all its crazy glory. I try to keep organized because not having that sense of organization throws my life into complete and actual chaos. It took a while to figure out if I prefer hourly planners vs. a planner with lines that are up to me to fill out. I found that I didn't like hourly planners because my handwriting is large, and I prefer to have the space to write everything down on a single line as opposed to like... 5. I also found out that I liked adding stickers in because it makes my planner look more fun and less plain. This obviously isn't going to be how it is for everyone, but these are things that I have used that help me stay organized in this crazy thing called life. I constantly forget things so it's so nice having my planner and being able to see what I have to do and what I have to do to get those things done and out of the way.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
