"Holidays are spent with loved ones."
Well, I could be writing out my Christmas lists, asking for a new North Face and a purse. But as the Holidays approach, and I continue to get older, it's much more than that. Family time IS the best time; it truly is a blessing I am forever grateful for. And it's very important we don't forgot the man upstairs celebrating the holidays with our loved ones.
There's a little bit of Heaven in our Home.
There's a hollow empty space in our hearts that is somehow also filled with unconditional love and memories. The hard truth is, you never know when it will be the last time you spend this holiday with your special loved one. It happens in a blink of an eye, and the realization doesn't truly kick in until they're gone. Now, as the holidays approach, I know how much we will all be wishing that person up in Heaven could be here with us, how much we believe the holidays will never be the same, how much we ask "why?". But just remember, that person IS right next to you and in time, holidays gain more meaning and form more/new traditions... and that question of "why?" well, God has a plan.
As we can tell, holidays magnify our losses. During this period take the time with your family, talk about all of the good times, smile, cherish the seconds. minutes, hours, but do not forget to mention your lost loved one. Pretending there isn't some hurt just is not the truth for you. Instead of avoiding feelings of grief, slowly lean into them; it isn't the grief you want to avoid, it's the pain. Say a prayer, light a candle, have their favorite candy/food at the table, share your favorite stories. This will fulfill any emptiness you are feeling, you'll be able to feel their presence, your heart will sense warmth and comfort. And the one promise I can make is - your angel(s) will be right by your side.
Remember, you're not alone. Smile. Because, these are the times we treasure.
Light up Life♥
Forever loving and missing you.
Psalm 16:11 – You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
*Take the time to remember; not all pictured.. picture YOUR loved ones.*
I love you mom.
Happy Holidays! Xoxo
Always,
Dionna♥
