Pick Up Your Boots And Move On

For Every Broken-Hearted Soul

Pick Up Your Boots And Move On

After getting hurt by the last person you ever thought would have hurt you, those two dreaded words, move on, are difficult to hear. How can one just "move on," after spending countless hours with the one person you had hoped would never leave? How can one just "move on," upon realizing that the person you love doesn't love you anymore? Well, it's not easy. Moving on is easier said than done, but what I've learned though trying to "move on," is that life doesn't stop because you are hurting.

Along with every break up comes a grieving period, in which you are allowed to feel sad, lost, alone, angry, hurt, etc. There are many different types of emotions that follow a breakup, some of which, I didn't even know existed. Within your grieving period, you will be inundated with so many different emotions, you might not even know how to handle them, but that's okay, because no one ever does.

In the process of moving on, the amount of different emotions you might feel will be overbearing and difficult to handle. The emptiness almost feels as if it will never go away and the amount of times your ex-lover crosses your mind will be painful, but pushing through the hard times will prove that you are stronger than you would have ever thought. Sometimes I felt as though the "post breakup feelings," were a burden and I just wanted them to disappear, but rather than trying to ignore these feelings, I simply tried to find a way to cope. When you finally learn to cope with the way you are feeling, regardless of how it is done, moving on becomes a little easier. Of course all the memories I have shared with the one person I love haunt me everyday, but getting used to the idea of that one person becoming a memory is part moving on. After a breakup, one of the most difficult things to do is to try and create a new life, without the one person you thought would always be in it. Because a relationship becomes habitual, creating a new normalcy for yourself seems almost impossible. Trying to create a new life, while leaving one person behind will feel different and scary, but it is a sign that you are at least trying to move on. While creating a new life on your own, you will still have to deal with every day obligations, because life doesn't stop just because you wish it would. Although trying to face the simple tasks of everyday life while you are emotionally hurting is difficult, it still has to be done.

Among your everyday obligations, your ex-lover will pop in and out of your thoughts, and it will be extremely hard to rid him or her of your innocent thinking. Trying to become used to the idea of the absence of the one person you loved the most is hard. Questions like "What could have been done differently?" or "Why did it end this way?" will be thought about while walking to class, or while you're watching TV. Most of the time these questions are never answered, or aren't answered the way you would like them to be. Moving on isn't an easy thing. Moving on is a time in which you have to become used to the idea of not having that one special person in your life anymore.

I find moving on to be a difficult idea to fully wrap my head around. How can you just forget about the one person that means the most to you? How can you pretend that you're okay when you feel like a completely different person without your significant other? How do you refrain from thinking about your ex-lover? How do you refrain from wanting to talk? All these questions and more have crossed my mind several times, just like these questions and more have crossed every broken-hearted mind. In the process of moving on, the amount of different emotions you might feel will be difficult to handle. Although the absence of a person you love hurts, sometimes, all you can do is pick up your boots and just move on.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
