I have personally watched the "Friends" series three times, front to back. I also watch most afternoons on TBS and late at night before I fall asleep on Nick@Nite. I frequently reference scenes from the show, thinking that others around me are as obsessed as I am. Reality is, not everyone likes "Friends." I don't have a clue why, but you know those people are weird.
Most girls that watch the show probably relate best to Rachel Green if they are a fashionista or Monica Geller if they are a stickler for the rules. I, however, relate best to Phoebe Buffay. I truly believe her character is what I would be like if life didn't tame me and my thoughts on a regular basis. She is wide open! She says what everyone else is thinking when no one else will, she has tons of funny quirks that make her interesting to be around, and if you're sad she's gonna find some way to cheer you up. Here are 25 times Phoebe Buffay proved to be my spirit animal.
- When she could never commit to a guy until she found the perfect one.
Phoebe never had a serious for-real boyfriend until she met Mike (well except David, who is a whole other story), but she and Mike were perfect for each other. - Every time she was Regina Phalange.
- When she showed us that she was just as confused in this world as anyone else.
- When she wore Santa pants as maternity pants.
- When her water broke right before they were all supposed to go to Atlantic City.
And she wanted to just go anyway. - When she said things like this:
- When she legally changed her name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock.
Then, Mike turned around and changed his to Crap Bag. - When she talked to her brother's triplets before they were anything but little swimmers in a petri dish.
It was one of those moments you didn't know whether you should laugh or cry. - When she told Rachel about Paulo hitting on her.
- When she knew the importance of a good date.
- When "Smelly Cat" was, like, her anthem.
- When she was simply logical.
- When she knew how to solve a fashion crisis.
- When she pretended to be Joey's acting agent for one episode.
- When she was just completely honest.
- When she said Rachel was Ross’s lobster.
- When she was simply sarcastic.
- When she showed everyone she could be one of the boys.
- When she thought this cat was her dead mother.
- When she forgot to get gas at the gas station.
- When she could always break up a cat fight. (Sorry, mom, for the language.)
- When she didn’t care what strangers thought of her.
- When she just wanted everyone to be happy.
- When she judged Monica for wanting to date Richard’s son.
- And well...
