In 2014 alone, over 136,000 Floridians survived a traumatic brain injury. Thousands of those survivors, young and old, are forced to face life-altering disabilities that will forever change the course of not only their lives, but their loved ones as well. The Brain Injury Association of Florida aims to “inform, educate, support and advocate on behalf of traumatic brain injury survivors, their families and caregivers."
Here at Florida State, this cause hits close to home. In April of 2012, Phi Delta Theta lost a beloved brother due to a traumatic brain injury. Ever since, the Florida Gamma chapter has teamed up with The BIAF to raise funds and spread brain injury awareness in Trent Taylor's honor. Sunday, April 12th, 2015 at 10:15am the 3rd Annual Trent Taylor 5k will be taking place at Tom Brown Park. Prizes will be given out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place runners as well as prizes for best costume and a donation to the organization with the most racers philanthropy of choice will be made. Registration is $25 per racer and donations are welcomed as well.
