On June 8, pop culture exploded over the subject of one certain tweet; Taylor Swift was rereleasing her song catalog on all streaming platforms.
Not only was the singer going back on her controversial decision made three years earlier, many fans opted to believe it wasn't just a 'thank you to her fans' but a catty get back at her longtime feud partner Katy Perry. Perry's new album Witness dropped the same day the catalog would be released, making the timing too good to be a coincidence.
What started this ugly feud? Why is it still being dragged on years and years later? And who is the one telling the truth?
2009-2010
Believe it or not Katy and Taylor were actually good friends, with Katy even guest appearing on Taylor's Fearless tour. They were often photographed together at awards shows laughing or posing for paparazzi.
Both ladies have stated at the ends of this era, their counterpart had started to become distant and began snubbing the other publicly.
2010-2012
The two continue to engage in sporadic twitter responses and cold interactions with each other at award ceremonies, fans theorize it has to do with the two ladies dating John Mayer around the same time.
2013
A background dancer that worked with Katy during her Teenage Dream tour compared his experiences with working with Taylor on her Red tour. He reveals that he and two other dancers had decided to part ways with Taylor a little earlier than expected, opting to join Katy's Prism tour instead. They cited loving working for Katy, they weren't doing much dancing for Taylor anyway and the gig was getting boring.
2014
Taylor appears on Rolling Stone to promote her 1989 album. When asked about the origins of the song "Bad Blood," she is quoted:
"For years, I was never sure if we were friends or not. She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'... [Then] she did something so horrible. I was like, 'Oh, we're just straight-up enemies.' And it wasn't even about a guy! It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me"
People were quick to conclude that she was referring to Katy Perry.

2015
Grammys coordinators reveal they are trying everything to separate the two pop stars during that year's award ceremony. The "Bad Blood" music video is released this year, earning Taylor a VMA nomination.
Niki Minaj enters the ring briefly to question, while not specifically mentioning Taylor, asking why majority of the videos nominated celebrated white female bodies while "Anaconda" was snubbed. Taylor immediately comes back at Nikki to defend her nomination while Katy chimes in that it was ironic how the tall blond boasts a platform that celebrates "all women" while she has no problem tearing them down to defend her career.
2016
After the Calvin Harris tweets heard round the world, one specially stands out as he reveals he will not let his ex-girlfriend paint him poorly after their break up in an attempt to "bury him like Katy".

They had minimal contact in 2016, probably because Taylor was busy dealing with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West instead.
2017
Taylor took a public hiatus for majority of 2017, the two stayed separate until a May interview with Entertainment Weekly asked Katy if her new album Witness would an include a response to "Bad Blood." While not directly attaching someone, she only responds "Everything has a reaction or a consequence so don’t forget about that".
In June, "Swish Swish" is released and critics not only bash the song but say there is no way it is not directed at Ms. Swift.
