If I asked my friends to describe me in some words, they would probably say I am funny, outgoing, kind, loud, or ambitious. The most important word that they would describe me as would be passionate. I am passionate. I have a passion for life. I have a passion for people and communication. I have a passion for animals and for cheesy, Italian cuisine. I'm passionate about my future and what I want to do with my life. I'm passionate about love, I'm a total hopeless romantic. I believe it's extremely important that someone feels passionate about their life and all the elements surrounding them. Our time on Earth is not permanent, so why would you not be passionate about the blessings God has given you while you have them?
A blessing that God has given me are the skills of communication. Studying the field of public relations, I continue to learn so much about people and how to work with them in every setting. I learn how to persuade, to inform, what to say and when to say it. I know how to write to the people and how to speak to the people. Planning big events that are important to people's lives, writing about my experiences, constantly using social media to promote my business, that is what I'm passionate about and that is what I want to do with my life. Does being a journalist or an event coordinator bring home as much money as a neurosurgeon, perhaps? Or a lawyer? No, in most cases they don't. But I don't do things with my life entirely for what I get out of them. I want to be a journalist because that is what I love to do. It's what I've always loved to do.
Someone once said: "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." If you're unhappy with what you wake up to do every day and who you work with every day, then what are you really doing?
My best friend came to me for advice on changing her major. Even though her old major might have given her more pay in the long run, I told her to always follow her heart and choose what would make her happier in the long run. Her skills lie in comforting her friends and family and always providing sound advice and an open heart. God blessed her with the ability to ease hurt or troubled people and she will make a great psychologist one day.
If you're happiest when holding that paintbrush creating beautiful art for the world to see, then do that. Be passionate and be happy. If you're passionate about the anatomy of the human body and saving a life, then continue to work your butt off and rock those scrubs. Just remember to study what you want and do what you want to do, not what anyone else wants you to do. Money is something, but it isn't everything.
I encourage you to analyze yourself, find your passions and your skills, and run with them. Be confident in the great things you can give to this world while you're here. Thank God every day for the blessings He has given you and don't take them for granted. Do what you love because you love it and never underestimate your abilities.
