The only person responsible for your behavior is yourself. Yep, look in the mirror. That’s the one and only person who decides your happiness, mood, and attitude. If you let other people’s mood affect your own, you’ll never be your own person. So many people need others to help them think, say, and do everything for them. By being independent, you don’t allow anyone’s mood or attitude to alter your own.

I’ve heard “it matters who you surround yourself with”, while this is true in a sense, you can’t blame others for your own well-being. You should be with people who bring out the best in you, but if you solely depend on those people for your happiness, you’ll always be disappointed.

Taking personal responsibility for happiness is a major step in life, as your emotional state is how you interpret events that occur in your environment.

On a tangent, it’s okay to be negative sometimes. We are all human and being a human means to stress emotion. Being upset, sad, or angry is a human emotion that shouldn’t be shunned upon. You NEVER know what’s going on with someone, so don’t be so quick to judge that their negativity is ruining your own life.

Find positives in each day, but don’t blame someone else for not finding them for you.

By taking personal responsibility for yourself, you make a conscious effort on how to respond to different circumstances and events that you’re surrounded with. Whether you like it or not, you are responsible for yourself. No one else has a responsibility to make you happy, or please you in any way. The world doesn’t owe you anything, regardless of your past, present, or future. It’s important to keep in mind that although you cannot control things around you, you can control the way you respond.

It’s a complete waste of time to make excuses, blame others, or play the victim. Not to mention, exhausting. Personal responsibility is something we all need to learn, and spread to others. Why do we feel the need to blame others for our unhappiness? It’s unhealthy and it’s just wrong. Your life is your responsibility. You are in charge.

There will be times where it seems the entire world is against you, or that your friends are out to get you, and that’s not the case at all. The world is not against you, and it never will be, unless you let it be. It’s how you interpret events that intertwine with the way you view your life. By living your life to the fullest, and taking full personal responsibility for it, you’ll live a much happier life!

“When you leave your happiness in someone else’s hands, you’ll end up being dependent on them, and when they leave, you’ll become empty inside.” – ThoughtCatalog.com

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
