For some of us, college is somewhat like a small city. You see someone walking from the dining hall to their dorm and you’ve yet to see that same face again two years later. For others, college is not much larger than our high school. Seeing the same familiar faces every day. Not knowing when’s the right time to start smiling or saying hello because although you may not know that person’s name you can definitely spot when they re-wear the same outfit.
Perks of attending a small private college:
1. It’s almost impossible to get lost on a campus that consists of one building and eight floors.
2. It’s extremely easy to make friends because you will always find yourself accidentally registering for the same classes with the same people.
3. All your professors will know you on a first-name basis and if they happen to be your major professor it’s more likely than not you’ll be in their class multiple times throughout your college experience.
4. Running late to class? Say no more. At a small college, you never have to worry about those twenty-five minute walks across campus to make that dreaded 8 am lecture.
5. Waiting weeks to meet with your academic advisor that doesn’t even know your name? Just kidding. Email your advisor you need to stop by for a meeting and they’ll most likely be able to take you within the next day or so.
6. Three hundred student lecture halls don’t exist. You’ll never expect to see more than forty students in a classroom, which gives everyone the opportunity to ask more questions and understand the material better.
7. You don’t need a car, which not only saves you a ton of money, but you get more exercise. It's an easy way to keep off that dreaded Freshman 15.
8. Lastly, you get a feeling that you’re not just a number. You’re a person.
