Long Island is often thought to be the summer playground for the rich and famous. It is so much more than "Gatsby" mansions and the Hamptons and is more than just a place to vacation in the summer. Long Island has all you could want in a place to live.
1. The best pizza, bagels, and egg sandwiches
While some argue that Manhattan has the best pizza, bagels, and egg sandwiches, anyone from the I sland will know that nothing can compare to the food here. For example, Little Vincents has the famous cold slice which is a classic cheese slice with cold mozzarella cheese on top of it so as you eat it the cheese melts in your mouth. Honestly, what more could you ask for in life. There are so many excellent pizzerias, bodegas and bagel shops that its hard to choose the best one.

2. Beaches
As an Island, we are obviously completely surrounded by beaches. You can boat or swim in the calm beaches of the north shore or dive into the waves on the smooth sandy beaches of the south shore. A fun beach day is always just a few minutes away for us.

3. New York City
Whether it is for a concert, a night out, or you just want to go and explore, the greatest city in the world is right at our fingertips. We are just a train ride away from the best museums, nightlife, and shopping. We can enjoy all of the wonderful things Manhattan has to offer without having to live in the overcrowded city.

4. Fire Island
This barrier island off the south shore of Long Island is home to incredible beaches and nightlife. There is something for everyone on fire island whether it is a fun family beach day or a night out at the numerous bars. You are just a short ferry ride away from a mini vacation.

5. Farms/Wine country
Not only does Long Island have a taste of the city life and the beach life but it even has a taste of the farm life. The eastern part of Long Island is home to many farms and vineyards. There are incredible wine tasting events all summer and in the fall you can go out and go apple and pumpkin picking. There are hay rides and horseback riding and gives off the southern hospitality vibe without leaving the state.
