Perks of Being Home for Spring Break

Your Bed

I don't care how many Tempurpedic mattress toppers you buy, that twin extra long in your dorm room will just never live up to the luxurious mattress that awaits you at home.

Your Room

Don't get me wrong here, I love my roomie (hey Mads!) , but sometimes it's nice to be able to have a room to yourself that's bigger than the size of a closet. And being able to click next onto that 7th episode of Friends you've watched today without being judged, well that's nice, too.

Home-cooked Meals

As much as I'm sure we all LOVE the Pit, I don't think I'm just speaking for myself when I say it's a nice change to be getting a meal prepared by someone you actually know and maybe might even trust. And if for some reason I find myself with a queasy stomach afterwards, at least I know who to blame.

Home Friends

College friends have most likely seen you at your best and your worst, but they didn't have the lucky privilege of watching you take on your awkward stage (or stages) that your home friends did. Despite all of the dirty little secrets that these home friends know about you, they have still decided to stick around. And every time you're together, no matter whether it has been a few months or maybe even a year, it seems like it couldn't have been more than just a few days.

Family

Maybe I'm on my own in saying that I do really miss my family when I'm at school. Yes, even all three of those annoying little brothers. But then again, not everyone is as lucky as I am to have a family whose favorite pastimes include beer pong, flip cup and Cards Against Humanity.

No Need for that Beach Bod

Though trekking my way back to D.C. for the break meant that snow would be in my future, it also meant that those bathing suits in the back of my closet can stay untouched for at least another couple of months. Fine. With. Me.

No Sunburn

While all of your friends are sending you snapchats of their sun-poisoned bodies, you get to sit and relax on the couch without a worry in the world.

Saving Money

And just think about all of the money you're saving while your friends are out buying bottomless mimosas and vodka cranberries in PCB! Or maybe don't think about that ... yeah, on second thought, just think about the money.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
