Curtain call,
curtain call
take your places
for the last bow of your grand performance.
Drown your ears
in the sound of cheers,
before they fade away
and return
to the silence of an empty theatre.
Collect your belongings,
the sweat and tears
that once flooded this stage
have now dried to stains.
Markings from shoes
that once danced and moved across
the floorboards
have been covered by a thin layer of dust.
Bask in the stage lights
let them swallow you whole,
for once they stop shining
you will miss their warmth.
Wave goodbye to those
who saw you perform,
as they may only remember you
in a daydream years ahead from now.
Curtain call
curtain call
take in each moment
because you may never perform
on the same stage again.
