With Valentine's Day fast approaching, the pressure is on. Everyone is rushing to find the perfect date and make the perfect plans. Relax. You don't need flowers or candy. If you're happy being single, then settle in alone or grab a few close friends and have a Valentine's Day date with yourself. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
1. Have a spa day
Soak your feet, paint your nails, put on a face mask. Make yourself feel beautiful. You deserve it.
2. Stay in your pajamas
There is no need to dress up. The only person you need to impress is yourself, so put on that comfortable pair of pants with the rubber ducks all over them, and just relax.
3. Be productive
Organize your desk, work on that paper that's been stressing you out, or finally read that book that you've been neglecting. Whatever task you choose to tackle, the feeling of accomplishment you get when it's done will boost your mood for the rest of the day.
4. Order your favorite food
You can't have a date without dinner. Call up your favorite take out place and go crazy. This is the night to treat yourself, so don't be ashamed to order that extra side of fries.
5. Get lost in a binge-watching marathon
We all know that unaccomplished feeling of looking at the clock and realizing hours have passed and the only time you've moved was to click "continue watching." But it's Valentine's Day, watch as many episodes as you want. You're on a date, so it doesn't count.
6. Try out a Pinterest recipe
Now's your chance to try out that one recipe you've been thinking about. There's no witnesses in case it turns out bad, and no one to yell at you for sneaking tastes along the way. Making a mess in the kitchen can be tons of fun, regardless of how the final product turns out.
7. Do a clean sweep
If you would rather do something constructive with your time, why not do a clean sweep? You can donate clothes you no longer wear, empty out your junk drawer, or maybe finally clean out under your bed. Even if it's just a small project, your whole room will feel clean and new when you're done.
8. Break out the arts and crafts
Coloring has been proven to be therapeutic, so what better activity is there for a you-day?Break out the crayons or colored pencils and go to town on that "Game of Thrones" coloring book, or just grab some printer paper and color in your own doodles.
9. Snuggle up with your favorite pet
If you don't have a pet, just grab a stuffed animal. You may not need a date to have a great night, but animals make everything better.
10. Have a dance party
Finally, turn up the speakers and blast your favorite songs. There is no one to judge your taste in music or your sub-par dance skills. It's just you and your tunes, so go crazy. Just don't go too crazy, no one wants to spend Valentine's Day in the emergency room.
No matter what you do, enjoy yourself. You don't need anyone but yourself, and maybe a friend or two (furry friends count too), to have a great Valentine's Day.
