School's out for summer! Summer can be a long break away from your school friends, but it's important to make the most of the warm weather, relaxation time and quality time with your family. This is a list compiling items for the perfect summer bucket list, so read up, put it into action and make this summer the best one yet.
1. Go swimming every chance you get.
How often do you get to swim during the school year? Take advantage of all of the local swimming pools. Jump off the diving board, and go down the slide as many times as you want. Live in the water, you little mermaid.
2. Make your own popsicles.
This is something that is so easy, yet so much fun and satisfying. There are special, deeper trays especially for popsicles, but you could literally fill an ice tray with the juice of your choice, stick a toothpick in the middle, and freeze it. Bam! A popsicle.
3. Go on at least one road trip.
Explore new places and see the world. Whether it's another town in your state or another country across the world, visit somewhere new.
4. Host a get together for your friends.
Have your hometown friends over to your house and invite your friends from school to visit, too. Have a bonfire, a dinner, or just a good old-fashioned sleepover. Take the time to bond and reconnect with your people.
5. Have a sit-down dinner with your family without your phones.
Your other people are your family members. It's important to take the time to connect with your loved ones. Take a step back from your phone screen, and enjoy time laughing and telling stories with the people who love you the most.
6. Make the ultimate summer playlist.
I don't know anyone that burns CDs anymore, but download a bomb playlist to your phone and rock out in your room or in your car. Sing at the top of your lungs and dance like nobody's watching you. Have fun dancing like your preteen self.
7. Lay under the stars.
Summer is such a refreshing time to just be by yourself and enjoy the little things. Check out this article about why it's important to look at the stars.
8. Read a good book.
This goes hand-in-hand with taking the time to watch a movie. Indulge in an alternate universe and fall in love with the characters and their stories.
9. Plan a day of adventures.
Whether you go to the zoo, the park or a new restaurant, take the time to plan a day for yourself and whoever you feel like having tag along. Wake up early and make the most of an entire day. Make a plan and enjoy your city or anywhere else your heart leads you.
10. Visit family that you don't see often.
People don't realize how much a visit means to their family. Go see your grandma or your aunt, and spend some quality time with them. Carve out time for the people who are truly important to you.
11. Get out of the house and take advantage of the warm weather.
You don't get to complain about the rain and snow all year long and then sit inside all summer when you finally get warm weather. Get out of your house and be outside. Even if you're literally just sitting on your front porch, appreciate the sunshine and enjoy it while you can.
12. Make bank at your summer job.
Most kids get a summer job when they return home for the summer, so make the most of the few short months. Put in the hours of work, and make bank so you have the money you need when you head back to school. Make bank.
13. Wake up early from time to time, and don't sleep away your summer vacation.
This goes along with getting out of the house. Don't just sleep away the summer that you awaited for so long. Make the most of it, and be tan and hot when you return back to school.
14. Go see a movie.
Whether it's in a theater, at the drive-in or at home in your living room, enjoy sitting down and enjoying a good movie. Indulge in another world outside of your own.
15. Enjoy the late nights.
Stay out late with your friends. It's still warm at 2 a.m., so enjoy being out and making memories. Be smart, but be fun.
16. Eat good fruit.
Summer is the best time to eat the best fruit. Pack a picnic and bring every type of fruit that you can think of. It's good for you, and it tastes good. It's a staple of the perfect summer.
17. Go to concerts.
The memories of going to a concert with your best friends are well worth the money for a ticket. See your favorite artist live and sing along even though you're tone deaf.
18. Drive with the windows down.
Let the wind blow through your hair while you jam to that bomb playlist that you made. Plus you'll look super cool to people who see you in passing.
19. Watch fireworks for the Fourth of July.
This is a given, but a lot of people overlook how big of a part this plays in summer. Fourth of July is one of the most fun holidays. Enjoy the good food, great company and entrancing fireworks that this holiday offers. You're never too old for a good fireworks show.
20. Treat yourself to ice cream.
Eat as much ice cream as you want. It'll cool you down and satisfy that craving after being outside all day. Ice cream is a must when it comes to summer, so there's no need to guilt-trip yourself over that second ice cream cone of the day. No judgment! Enjoy that sweet treat.
21. Watch the sunset.
It's the little things in life that make the biggest differences. Take the time to enjoy watching the sunset. This can be one of the most beautiful and breath-taking sights of your life, and it's something that happens every single day. People take a good sunset for granted.
Summer is the time to thrive, so make the most of the time you have.
