After a break-up, some people will either take a break from dating for a little while so that they can “find themselves,” or they will go crazy and date like their lives depend on it. While dating around can be a lot of fun, it can take a lot out of you – especially if you seem to keep meeting the same people. This is especially true if you live in an area where the people you meet just... Don’t interest you or are looking for more (or less) than you are willing to offer.

What is the Allure of Online Dating?

One of the most alluring things about online dating is the possibility of meeting new and exciting people from anywhere in the world. Online dating is spread around the world and you have a the same chance of finding someone who is miles and miles away from you as finding a person that lives a couple of blocks away. You could join a chat room and make a connection with someone from Australia, or begin flirting with someone from England. You could even fall in love with someone who lives one city away from you. The possibilities are endless with online dating.

What Kind of People Will You Meet?

If you’re under the impression that the only type of people that you will meet online are outcasts and social pariahs, you are sadly mistaken. You can find successful business professionals, creative artists, talented musicians, dreamers and believers. You’ll meet people who speak the same language, but also people who speak a multitude of languages. There are people who just want to flirt and have fun, while there are people who are hoping to find that oh so elusive soulmate.

For those who are searching for their soulmates, they tend to flirt within their own country, which makes a lot of sense. It’s a lot easier to meet someone they’ve been building a rapport with online when you don’t have to fly across an ocean or deal with pesky customs and TSA officials!

Flirting Across Borders

Flirting can be a lot of fun, even if it doesn’t amount to anything serious. You can be bored one night and instead of going out with your friends, you can go online and chat with someone who is from a different country. Did you know that about 70% of men in the UK will go online to flirt with American women? Maybe it’s because the men are enamored with the thought of courting a southern belle, or because the women are charmed by the English accent.

Online dating isn’t just about flirting or possibly falling in love, it’s a great opportunity to expand your knowledge of the world. By talking to people from another country, you can make friends and learn more about their culture. Don’t get us wrong – flirting is one of the most interesting and exciting ways to communicate with others, regardless of where they may be. But, online dating can be so much more than that. It can lead to life-long friendships, steamy romances, and perhaps a once in a lifetime kind of love. You just never know.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
