In examining the modern lifestyle we have all built and our system of politics and media, at 16-years-old, I have a few questions:
Is our world something you're proud of? Do you take pride in our community? Do you show dignity and respect towards our land and all its inhabitants? Do you reach out with open arms to all, offer them peace and love in a world of hate? Do you care about the lives of the plants and animals in which we coincide and, frankly, need? Are you aware of the tragedies occurring far too frequently? Are you choosing sides or choosing peace? What are you doing to make an impact? Is it positive or negative?
Be aware. Never forget the cruelties of this world and understand every aspect -- but don't get angry. Our world is in flames. Something that started with a negative spark caused a kitchen fire which was fueled by the oozing hate of the media from every corner and spreading throughout. The simplest way to say it is -- put out the fire. This is your time, our time, to make a difference. Let's start to fill our pails with water and aid in putting these flames of anger and hate out.
Throughout our current state it's important to keep an open mind and a grounded heart. As society has become vulnerable to violence, we are divided rather than connected. Let’s work together to create community of integrated ideas; the light in this period of darkness can start with you. Celebrate diversity and enjoy its presence. Radiate positivity and see the change in the atmosphere around you. Express love and feel satisfied. "Karma," "the golden rule," call it what you will, but they have the same meaning -- what goes around comes around. Put good in and see the results by receiving kindness in return. We all have the power to make an impact, why not make it a positive one?
Say something. Do something. Smile at your neighbor, say hello. Kindness is something that isn't spread around much let's share it. Fill your pail with peace and pour it on a single flame -- that's one less flame in this wildfire of hate. Let's not wait for tomorrow, because tomorrow is not soon enough, but today. Let's start today to make hope for tomorrow. It starts with you, becomes us, and ends with they.
