If you're still trying to wrap your head around the Patriot's historical comeback in Superbowl 51, join the entire country, if not world. I'm 100% sure I can still hear New England screaming, crying and celebrating from out my window. Sunday night one of, if not, the best football game in history was played, and for athletes of all ages, the Pat's win demonstrates what it takes to be a great athlete. Here's what athletes can learn from the Pat's Superbowl win against the Falcons:
1. Always play like the score is 0-0.
Whether you're losing or winning, always play the game like the score is 0-0. Don't ever let cockiness or defeat set in before the clock runs out. As the Pat's proved, ever second counts.
2. Play your hardest until the last second.
From the first second to the last, your effort should be at 150% the entire game. (Even though the Pat's weren't too hot in the first half.) Your mind, body and soul should be focused on the game and the game only. Nothing else matters when you're out on the field.
3. Never give up, even if the odds are against you.
The Falcons had a 99% chance of winning Superbowl 51, but the Pat's pulled through and found that 1%. Like they say, "where there is a will, there is a way", and the Pat's found their way. They could have given up and accepted a defeat, but instead they decided losing was not an option and worked harder.
4. Hard work really does pay off.
Trophies, championships or wins will ever be handed to you, so work hard everyday on and off the field and always show up to play. If you don't put the work in all you'll ever be handed is L's.
Whether or not you're a Patriots fan or a Tom Brady fan, this comeback and win is hard not to appreciate. We got a chance to witness history Sunday night, and I'm still not over it. All I can say is it sure as hell feels good to be a Pat's fan.
