A Parent's Unconditional Love

The two people I would not replace for the world.

A Parent's Unconditional Love
Shayen-Joe Sakr

My parents, two people who coincidentally met once upon a time, who now have four children, and live happily ever after. Not so much the latter, but happily ever after seems to be quite overrated, anyway. Like any other family, my family has its problems. We fight, people get ill, my parents get disappointed and so on. Despite all the bad, my parents still have a way of making life seem like a fairy tale. This is probably because my parents have made it their life goal to ensure the happiness of my siblings and me.

I often get told I am spoiled, but I believe myself to be rather lucky – lucky to have parents who love me unconditionally. There has never been a time where I truly doubted my parents love for me or for my siblings. The four of us definitely have not been darling to raise, but no matter how bad we mess up, our parents still love us with the uttermost passion. My mistakes are not overlooked by them, but they are forgiven, which has led me to believe that love makes way for forgiveness.

Out of all my siblings, I certainly take the cake for acting against my parent's will in the most absurd ways. I have a mind of my own, they claim, but that has never stopped them from supporting my decisions. The financial support is nice, no doubt, but it is their emotional support that matters to me the most. They accept me for who I am, and although they wish I were different, they still stand behind me. I do not always make the greatest decisions, but their support has allowed me to always follow my heart.

My parents witness my flaws as well as my siblings flaws better than anyone else in the world, yet they still manage to see us all as blessings. They speak of us with such grace, and I believe it to all be true. I owe my undying confidence to the both of them. Our parents see us for all we are. They see perfection in all our imperfections.

My parents have gone to immeasurable lengths to make me happy and to ensure a successful future for me. They have invested their whole selves into my life as well as my siblings' lives. They see the best in us, and they bring out the best in us. Parents teach you the greatest life lessons, they love you despite your daily tantrums and they take pride in having you as a child. Being a parent cannot be easy, it is a never-ending job. I appreciate my parents more than I have ever shown, more than they will ever know. In their eyes, I am a princess and because of them, I feel as though I am living a fairy tale.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
