Parents: The Best Two People You Could Ever Ask For

Family is the most important thing you have in this life -- don't ever take advantage of that, not even for a second. As the years have gone on, I've realized how fortunate I am for such an incredible support system especially because I am not naive enough anymore to believe everyone is as fortunate as I am.

My parents have given me everything I could've ever dreamed of, they've been so selfless just to make me happy. Between the countless hours spent driving and cheering me on at sporting events, in addition to working extra hours to make sure the holidays were always super special, my parents have given me the world. They've guided me along the ropes of life and have taught me right from wrong. With every defeat and hardship, they've been right by my side -- pushing me to succeed regardless of the circumstances.

As a kid, I used to love spending time with my parents. Whether it was drinking coffee out on the porch, making pottery in the basement, or soaking up rays on the boat, I remember feeling eternal happiness. My dad was one of my best friends and my mom was my favorite person to hang out with.

As I began to stumble upon my teenage years, my relationship with my parents began to change. I would always choose hanging out with my friends over them, and I began blowing off our little traditions. They embarrassed me because of how strict and protective they were, and I began resenting them for it. I would get into fights with them constantly because they wouldn't allow me to run around doing whatever I wanted -- and looking back on it now, I realize they were just trying to help steer me in the right direction. I allowed my attitude to get the best of me, and as a result, it caused unnecessary conflict between me and the people I love most in this world.

Ever since I started college, I truly noticed how much I take advantage of how wonderful and loving the two people who gave life to me are. They didn't have to try bonding with me constantly, or doing things they know made me smile -- they did those things because they love me and wanted to give me the best life I could have. Finally after years of thinking they were crazy just because they were trying to protect me from all of the evil in this world, I began to whole heartedly appreciate all of the little things my parents do for me. Nothing makes me happier than knowing I'm their baby girl, I wish I could give back to them for everything they've given up for me.

Since the beginning of my time, and for as long as my parents live, I know that they will give anything to make sure I accomplish all of my hopes and my dreams. I know that they will be by my side through everything no matter how big or small it may be. They are the reason I am so motivated to accomplish incredible things throughout my life, and find all of the beauty scattered across the world. They give me so much life, and no matter how close or far away I am from them, I will always cherish and hold my relationship with my parents close to my heart. Don't take advantage of the precious time you have to spend with your parents, some people don't get the same opportunity.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
