Almost every single time I get on social media, someone is asking which Netflix show they should start watching next. The comments are always overflowing with suggestions like One Tree Hill, Greys Anatomy, Gossip Girl, etc. While those are incredible shows, and some of my favorites, there is a certain show that has completely stolen my heart: Parenthood. The show tells the story of Adam, Sarah, Crosby, and Julia, who are the four grown-up siblings of the Braverman family. It highlights their lives as parents and the struggles they go through while raising a family. Essentially, displaying why this show is called Parenthood. With summer being here and late nights Netflix binging becomes more available, it is time that you choose a great show to watch, and Parenthood is that show.

While Parenthood is mainly focused around the four siblings, it also delves into every aspect of the Braverman family as a whole. The Braverman’s are a large group to say the least, and the show honors that by letting the audience get to know each member. This can be applied to everyone from the grandparents to the numerous amounts of grandchildren, each of which have problems of their own. Throughout the six seasons, we see the kids grow up and learn from their mistakes, we see the importance of appreciating your family, and how through love and support, conflicts can be resolved and redemption can be found.

One reason why Parenthood is such a great show is because of how relatable it is. Often television shows depict drama in a very outrageous way. For those of you who watch Grey’s Anatomy or Gossip Girl, you know what I’m talking about. I would provide examples, but I don’t want to reveal any spoilers for those who haven’t seen the show. Basically, the struggles that these types of shows present are, for the most part, not something that the average person can relate to. However, in Parenthood, this is a completely opposite scenario. These are problems that actually happen to families. Parenthood introduces issues like divorce, single parenting, PTSD, Down syndrome, and so much more. These are realistic issues, and ones that a viewer can find personal connections to. It shows imperfect, but good people, always trying to make the right decision but struggles along the way.

Another reason why Parenthood is the best is because it hits you in the feels in so many ways. The amount of times that I have cried while watching Parenthood is infinite. People can take that in a negative way, but often times I’m crying because there are so many happy moments and you grow to love the characters. You root for them and since you love them, sometimes seeing the characters struggle can be hard. But it is all worth it. You cry from laughter as well, because, once again, the writers of this show find a way to touch you in the best way possible. So grab a couple of tissues and get in touch with your emotions. It’s the best.

In the end, Parenthood is a quality show that we don’t see every day. Modern television shows are always displaying the extreme; whether that is murder mysteries or intense hospital shows or anything similar. Parenthood separates itself from these television norms in a fresh and unique way. There is an ease and simplicity with Parenthood that you can’t help but fall in love with as each episode goes by. It's just an imperfect, but lovable family, that's just trying to make it in this world. Give this show a chance and be prepared to want to be a Braverman. You’re going to feel this way whether you like it or not.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
